Spiritual Literature Study Group
The Shack by Wm. Paul Young

This Fall the St James' Spiritual Literature Study Group will be reading The Shack by Wm. Paul Young. This book has over seven million copies in print. It is available at Chester County Book Company, Border’s, and Barnes and Noble. The cost is about $12.00. The story is as follows: Mackenzie Allen Phillips's youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s life forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant, The Shack wrestles with the timeless question: Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain? The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You’ll want everyone you know to read this book! The above three paragraphs are a direct quote from the back of the book. I can personally attest to the fact that this book has the potential to change the lives of those who read it. This book challenges us to examine our personal relationship with God. It is about 250 pages and if you are like me you will find it hard to put down. Please join us In the Fall to discuss this book, we will be meeting in the church office between the 9 AM and 11 AM Services. If you cannot join us, I would urge you to read the book anyway!
