The Rev. Timothy L. Steeves, Rector
Father Tim received his undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After teaching in the public schools of Somerset Massachusetts, he entered the Virginia Theological Seminary in 1970, and received his degree of Master of Divinity in 1973. Long interested in the areas of pastoral care and counseling, in 1985 Father Tim entered the Columbia University School of Social Work, and received his Master’s degree (MSW) in clinical social work in 1987. Before coming to the Diocese of Pennsylvania, the he served parishes in Florida, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia. Before coming to Saint James’, he was the Senior Associate Rector for Pastoral Care at St. Thomas’ Church, Whitemarsh, and, before that, had served for ten years as Rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Montross, Virginia. Father Tim also has experience as a clinical social worker at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Beth Israel Medical Center, both in New York City. He is also a recently retired Chaplain (LTC) in the U.S. Army Reserve. His primary interests are in the areas of pastoral care and counseling, preaching, teaching and liturgical planning.
